How to prepare measurements for a custom dress
A useful measurement brief gives the maker more than a size label. Record how you measured, what kind of fit you prefer and the details that make the outfit yours.

Start with a reference and a fit preference
Choose a dress or outfit reference and describe what you like about it: neckline, sleeve, waist placement, flare or finished length. If only one detail matters, say so. Include your height, the occasion and whether the outfit should feel close, regular or relaxed.
A reference image cannot supply construction measurements. Share a link to the image, then add your own measurements and the changes you want. Your maker can advise which details need to be confirmed for the chosen cut.
Record body measurements consistently
Use a flexible measuring tape and keep it level around the body without pulling it tight. Wear the type of undergarments you expect to wear with the outfit. Ask someone to help with shoulder, back and length measurements when possible.
Record bust at the fullest point, waist at your natural waist and hip at the fullest point. Include shoulder width, sleeve length, upper-arm circumference and desired outfit length when relevant. For a fitted bodice or unusual neckline, ask the team which additional measurements they need.
Choose centimetres or inches and label every value. Do not mix body measurements with measurements taken flat from an existing garment. If you send a garment measurement, identify it clearly and explain whether it is a flat width or a full circumference.
Separate body measurements from garment ease
Your body measurement is not necessarily the finished garment measurement. Ease is the extra room needed for movement and the chosen silhouette. Do not add seam allowance or an unexplained extra amount to your body measurements.
Tell the team where you want more room, such as the upper arm, bust or hip, and let them confirm the finished specification. For a co-ord, share top and bottom needs separately rather than assuming both pieces should use the same size.
Check length for the way you will wear it
For a long dress, mention the shoes you plan to wear and where you want the hem to finish. For a kurta, explain whether it will be paired with trousers, palazzos or a skirt. Describe any neckline, opening or sleeve adjustment that affects how the outfit is put on.
Compare your notes with the size guide before sending them. If you are unsure about a measurement, flag it in the enquiry instead of guessing.
Send a complete brief before approving making
Include garment type, reference link, labelled measurements, fabric and colour preference, quantity, budget, occasion date and delivery pincode. Our team reviews feasibility and confirms the quote and schedule before production.
Customised, altered and made-to-order garments are excluded from our standard return policy. Confirm the final design and measurements before approval. If a fit check or sample is needed, agree that process in advance.
