Lifetime care advice for handcrafted garments
Care guide
A hand block-printed cotton piece will outlast a printed one — if you wash it like the handmade thing it is.
Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent
Natural dyes release a little colour on the first few washes. Washing separately keeps it off everything else.
Do not soak
Soaking pulls colour out of a hand-blocked print faster than anything else you can do to it.
Dry in shade
Direct sun fades plant-based and mineral dyes.
Iron on reverse
Direct heat on the printed face dulls the motif over time.
Store folded, not hung, for heavier sets
Hanging stretches the shoulder line on gota and velvet pieces.
A word on colour
Colours may vary slightly — hand-printed pieces are printed one at a time, and a variation of roughly ±5% between pieces is normal. They will also soften over the first year. That is the dye behaving the way a natural dye behaves.
